I’ve got a case of the ‘M’s

by Xio Axelrod

Hey folks! Does that title have you scratching your head? Let me ‘splainy.

Ever pull up a Pandora station, or set your iTunes/Amazon Music/etc to shuffle, and notice that there’s pattern to the music that they play? It’s random, of course, but it still seems to mean something.

Last night I put on some music, sat down to write, and noticed that (almost) every song that came up was by an ‘M’ artist.

The Maccabees
Meshell N’degeocello
Mumford & Sons
(Janelle) Monae
Miike Snow
Major Lazer
Marc Anthony
Massive Attack

I’m not kidding, here. This is what happened! Of course there were a few other artists peppered in there, but we’re talking about ninety minutes or so. Out of twenty-six letters in the alphabet, my player was fixated on one. Now, this isn’t me complaining. I love all of these artists. Okay, I only own one Marc Anthony song (Que Lio), but it’s a GOOD one. Amiright?

Whew! *fans self* I didn’t even watch that show, but I did catch that scene. I’m just sayin’.

Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh yes, music. And the letter M. What significance does this have, you may ask. Well, the story I was working on is called…wait for it…The Max.

Mind Blown

Mind. Blown.

Yeah, yeah, go ahead and laugh. It’s silly. Or is it a glitch in the Matrix?

Ahhhhhh! Another M!

The universe is trying to tell me something.
I’m going back to work, now.

  1. Susan Scott Shelley says:

LOVE this! 🙂 It’s so weird (and cool) how things like that happen. Obviously, the universe supports your book title choice 🙂

  2. I have a feeling The Max is going to be Mighty Magnificent!

  3. Dude I love freakishly bizarro awesome things like this! That scene just killed me but I still love you! LOL Awesome serendipity Xio!

  4. I see the signs, Sister. I see the signs

  5. You are cracking me up! Kinda makes you wonder though…
